

Jean “Granny” Harris passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at her home surrounded by family and her Poodle/Yorkshire Terrier named “Ebony”. Jean was born in Wichita , Kansas on February 8, 1930 to Joseph Lawrence and Barbara Jeanine Glynn. She was the first of five children. She graduated from Bishop Toolen Catholic School. She shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with her husband Robert Hunt Harris. She leaves behind her husband, Robert Harris and children; Larry Harris, Wayne Harris, Steve Harris (Beth), Nez Packard (Bob), Robert Harris (Karen) and Anita Harris , grandchildren; Jay Harris (Carmen), Jeffery Harris (Katie), Stephanie Dial (Matt), Jessica Coleman (Charlie), Amanda Ellis, Matt Stacey (Brandice), Travis Harris, Hayes Harris (Lauryn) Mike Packard, Michelle Packard (Vince), ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She became the adoptive mother, grandmother and great -grandmother to many of our friends and was fondly referred to as our “Granny”. Granny spent many years of her life at football stadiums, baseball parks, basketball arenas and lady’s softball parks supporting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The past 16+ years she spent much of her time supporting lady softball teams and became an avid University of Alabama Birmingham fan and supporter. She loved having her family together for lunches, dinners and special occasions. Family gatherings especially made her happy. She was our family matriarch for more than 60 years. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Home Town Hospice employees who took great care for our mother. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy., Saraland, AL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 251 North Craft Hwy., Chickasaw, AL on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Father Saucier will conduct the Mass with Brother Jerry Presnall offering comments and prayer. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 10000 Celeste Rd., Saraland, AL. Arrangements under the direction of Radney Funeral Home, Saraland, AL.
