

L.C. “Jack” Jackson, 84, of Saraland, Alabama passed away Friday July 18, 2014 at Springhill Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, AL. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens on Celeste Road in Saraland, Alabama. He was born on November 3, 1929 in Toxey, Alabama to Leonard and Ola (Roberts) Jackson and he moved to Mobile in 1948 where he met his bride and best friend Marie (Gladden) Jackson with whom he recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served with honor in the Korean War. He was employed by Delchamps where he retired after working for 47 years. After retirement, he was an avid member of the Saraland Lions Club and Saraland Civic Forum. He received numerous awards and recognitions including Saraland Citizen of the Year in 2007, Melvin Jones Fellow award for dedicated humanitarian services, and Lion of the Year in 2012. He was also a dedicated member of the Saraland Assembly of God Church. L.C. was an avid gardener and grew some of the tastiest tomatoes and vegetables around. He deeply loved his family, friends, and community. L.C. is survived by his wife Marie, son Brad, daughter-in-law Tami, and grandson Oliver, his brothers J.C. and Billy, and sisters Inez, Dorothy, Laverne, and Lois, brother-in-law Hollis Gladden, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother W.C. Jackson. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, as well as the countless lives that he touched.
