

Leon Dudley Mann, born April 1, 1930 in Bessemer, Jefferson Co., AL, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 surrounded by his children and family in the comfort of his childhood home in Saraland, AL. Mr. Mann moved to Saraland, at the age of 14, with his parents Leanner C. and Minnie Mann. He was as brick mason by trade and his work can be seen in many of the buildings around Mobile and Baldwin Counties. His family will always have loving memories of his trade. After retirement, he enjoyed working on Volkswagen Bugs, loved Country Music, and watching Cowboy Westerns. Mr. Mann served as a volunteer fireman for Saraland, AL and on December 10, 1962 was chosen “Fireman of the Year”. Mr. Mann was preceded in death by his parents, Leanner C. and Minnie (Powell) Mann, Sr.; two brothers, Leanner C. Mann, Jr. and William F. “Billy” Mann; two sisters, Ila May Mann Quick and Kathleen Mann Davis; and one grandson, Sgt. Billy E. Rice, II, and his first wife, Myrtle Tillman Mann Lee. Mr. Mann is survived by his children, Melinda Mann Bounds of Saraland, AL, Rick W. (Kathy) Mann of Prattville, AL, Gail Mann White of Mobile, AL, and Mark L. (Leigh Ann) Mann of Axis, AL; one brother, Frank G. (Betty) Mann of Saraland, AL; his second wife, Linda Parker; his grandchildren, Cindy Russell (Clint) Crane of Fairhope, AL, Courtney W. (Zach) McKenzie of West Chester, OH, Bailey M. Mann, and Breanna N. Kyle both of Axis, AL; two great-grandchildren, Derrick Russell Crane and Melissa M. Crane both of Fairhope, AL; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family would like to thank the staff of Odyssey Health Care for their loving care and dedication to our Dad. A special thanks to his personal nurse, Lanna Lowe. Also, a special thanks to the members of Shiloh Baptist Church for their prayers, love, and support. The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Radney Funeral Home, Saraland. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Saraland. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
