Leon Percy “Preacher” Williams, Sr. – a 98 year-old native of Meridian, MS and longtime resident of Creola passed away Friday, September 6, 2013. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Pipefitter’s Union Local 119 for over 60 years. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Williams, and son, Leon Percy Williams, Jr. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Betty Williams; grandchildren, Keith Williams, Dennis O. Williams (Cathie), Susan Uptagraft (Mike), and Lori Taylor (Mark); great-grandchildren, Leanna Johnson (Jackery), Diana Goff, Daniel Williams, Sarah Georgieo (Milen), Andrew Taylor, Greg Uptagraft (Sally), and Brian Uptagraft (Julia); 12 great, great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. procession to the cemetery.
