Levi Wilson McLendon

Levi Wilson McLendon – age 83, a long time resident of Saraland, AL, passed away on November 2, 2010 in a local hospital. Mr. McLendon was born in Clara, MS on Feb. 6, 1927. He served in the US Army from 1945-1946 and served with the Paratroopers from 1949-1952. Mr. McLendon received an Honorable Discharge from WWII and the Korean War. After returning from the service he was employed at L&N –CSX Railroad. He retired from CSX Railroad after 33 years. He was self employed during the same time at his auto-repair shop. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; parents, John and Maggie Stevens McLendon; and brother, John (Ollie Leroy) McLendon. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann (Larry) Gansz and Debbie Sue (Rickey) Lednum; three grandsons, Bryan Gansz, and Chad and Eric Lednum; sister, Murell Hoxie.; one niece, Maggie Sue Speed; special devoted companion, Dorothy Nell (Doll); extended family, Mike Corky, Josie, John and Melissa Teague; a host of other family members and friends. Mr. McLendon was a member of Fountain of Life Church in Saraland, AL for a number of years. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 4, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or charity of your choice.
