Marion Randall (Randy) Knapp was born in Chickasaw, Alabama and raised in Malcolm, Alabama. He served in the Army for two years after high school. Randy traveled throughout the country as a crane operator with a career spanning forty years. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents Marion Crawford Knapp and Elizabeth Bliss Knapp of Malcolm, Alabama. He is survived in death by his wife Cynthia; son, Randall Knapp; daughter, Mindy McWhirter and grandsons Mason Johnson and Elijah Miller; stepdaughter Christi (Buddy) Turner; grandchildren, Catherine Shipp & Christopher Shipp; stepson Todd Norris; grandson Andrew (Courtney) Norris and their seven children.
Randy is also survived by siblings Ronald Crawford Knapp (Angie); Angela Knapp Forbus (Gary); and William Jeffrey Knapp (Amy). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
After retirement Randy returned to his family home in Malcolm. He loved living in the country and enjoyed feeding the deer, interacting with the wildlife around his home, and fishing.
He passed away at his home on February 10, 2022. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15 from 10:00-12:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, Alabama. Graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Malcolm Baptist Church, Red Bud Road, Malcolm, Alabama.
