Marvin Lee Newman – 73, born in Liberty, MS, lived in Pascagoula, MS for many years and a resident of Saraland, AL for 37 years, passed away December 26, 2012. Marvin was a Vietnam vet who served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Local #119 as a Pipefitter and his last few years he worked in Alaska on the Alaskan pipeline. Marvin was a member of Bayou Sara Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Claudette Smith Newman; two daughters, Angie (Marty) Irvin and Hope (Robby) Goff; one son, Troy Newman; his mother, Alice Newman; five grandchildren, Ashton and Tyler Irvin, Brinkley, Bryson, and Bryleigh Goff; one brother, Hilton Lamar (Marie) Newman. Funeral services will be Monday, December 31, 2012, at 10 a.m. from Bayou Sara Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are John “Snake” Calton, John England, Jr., Robert Shaw, Steve Platt, James Hicks, and Fred D. Lambert.
