Mary Pearl Mathews, 86, was born on September 9, 1935 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Hiram A. and Fannie Mae Sullivan Maples. She was called to her Heavenly home on January 14, 2022 in Semmes, Alabama surrounded by her loving family. Pearl was a beautiful and special person. She loved the Lord and loved her family with all her heart. Her family meant everything to her. Pearl loved her church, Pastor: Bro. Eugene and Sis. Cynthia Futral along with their family, and her church family. She loved unconditionally never expecting anything in return.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Junior Maples and Gerald Maples.
Left to cherish Pearl's beautiful memories will be her beloved husband, John Mathews; a daughter, Renee Morris and husband Jeffrey; a grandson, Matthew Backlin; two sisters: Carolyn, Rogers, Anita Brantley; sister-in-law, Margie Maples; two brothers: Charles Maples and wife Cathy, Donald Maples; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends.
Honoring Pearl as pallbearers will be Dale Rogers, Randy Rogers, Timmy Rogers, Phillip White, Charles Maples, Jr., Donald Maples and Brandon Maples.
Thank you Dad for taking such great care of Mom and as Mom called it (spoiling her). She loved every minute of it. Thank everyone for taking the time to visit Mom, doing for her and being there for her.
She NEVER wanted to go to the doctor but she became very fond of her physician, Ashleigh Butts-Wilkerson M.D. We thank you for all of the great care, love and concern you provided. We would like to thank Peggy with Kindred Hospice, along with all of their care team.
A visitation for Pearl will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Allentown Holiness Church, 10601 Howells Ferry, Semmes, Alabama 36575, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Joyner Cemetery, Tanner Williams Road, Mobile, Alabama.
