

Norman Lamar “Red” Pierce, age 83, of Satsuma, Alabama, passed away on January 11, 2026. Lamar was born in Mobile, Alabama, to Cyril and Christine Pierce on May 15, 1942. He attended Satsuma High School. He married Mary Helen Walker on September 6, 1969, at Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama. He owned his own business as a mechanic in Satsuma for many years.
He retired from the Mobile County School System as a bus inspector. After retirement, he was involved with the startup of the Saraland, Satsuma, and Chickasaw City Schools transportation systems.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Christine Pierce; brothers, Elvin Pierce Sr. (Iva) and James Artis Pierce; and sisters, Cyriline Cantrell (Norman) and Virginia Fredrickson; brothers-in-law, Doug Brewer and Harold Lambert.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Helen Pierce; children, Norman Pierce Jr., Skipper Pierce (Sharon), Jason Pierce (Tracey), and David Pierce (Deanne); grandchildren, Katelyn Pierce Kearley (Cody), Nathan Pierce (Katrina), Walker Pierce, Bradley Pierce, and Saylor Pierce Watt (Kenny); great-grandchildren, Rowan Kearley and Grayson Kearley; sisters, Marilyn Lambert, Linda Brewer, Donnette Siems (Greg), and Don Fredrickson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pall Bearers will be Nathan Pierce, Walker Pierce, Bradley Pierce, Chris Brewer, Scooter Fredrickson, and Butch Lambert.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Randy Cantrell, Scott Cantrell, Steven Brewer, Michael Brewer, Harold Lambert, Darold Lambert, Mark Barlow, Elvin Pierce Jr., Jared Siems, and Jacob Siems. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to First Baptist Church of Satsuma, Radney’s Funeral Home, Craig Walker, Aveanna Hospice of Mobile, Carolyn Hayford, Cynthia Johnston Spradlin, and all the friends and family who visited, prayed, brought food, and shared their love and support during this time of great loss.
A visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Satsuma, located at 5600 Old Hwy 43, Satsuma, Alabama 36572, on January 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location starting at 12:00 pm. A committal service will take place at Satsuma Cemetery, Satsuma, Alabama. Arrangements are by Radney’s Funeral Home.
