Richard Elms, 78, of Saraland, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2016. Richard was a people person, never meeting a stranger and making friends with everyone he encountered. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter, making a turkey call that even outshined the turkeys! Richard loved his family, loved reading and telling the children stories. He loved singing and was a whiz on the harmonica. But most of all, Richard loved the Lord. His faith in God brought him a wonderful testimony that he never had a problem sharing with others. His favorite verse was, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jessie Elms; and three sisters.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lois Allgood Elms; one son, Todd (Rosemary) Elms; one daughter, Elisha (Tommy) Coyle; one step-daughter, Brenda Poole; one step-son, Anthony (Amy) Odom; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with two on the way; one sister, Margie Richardson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
