Ronnie is survived by Shirley, his wife of 32 years; his children, Jordan and Jacob; sister, Debbie Payton (Mike); brothers, Mike Wright (Belinda) and Mark Wright (Joi); mother-in-law, Thelma Nelson; four nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; and three dogs.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth Wright; niece, Amberley Parton; and his father-in-law, Hubert Nelson.
Ronnie went to college at Lurleen B. Wallace and Louisiana Tech, where he played baseball. His baseball dream came true the day he signed to play minor league ball with the New York Yankees. Ronnie loved Alabama football and only missed a game if it conflicted with his children's activities. Ronnie loved people, and he made friends wherever he went. Ronnie was also a volunteer with Magic Moments. Granting wishes to children gave him such joy. Ronnie's true treasure was his family. He was at every ball game, recital and award ceremony to celebrate his family's achievements. However, Ronnie will be remembered most for his generous heart and the love he gave.
Funeral services will be held from Redemption Church in Saraland on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
