
Roy “Pop” Horn – a native of Ararat, AL and a resident of Saraland died on Thursday, May 22, 2014. Roy served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II, he was involved in 5 major campaigns including the D-Day landing at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. After returning he worked as a supervisor at ALCOA Aluminum Company for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Blanche Stafford Horn, his mother, Mamie Horn, his adopted parents, Robert and Lucy Whatley, brothers, Robert Whatley, Pete Whatley, Carl Whatley, Frank Whatley, sisters, Jewel Bishop, Frances Allen and Louise Haney. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa (John) Markel, Judy (Jeff) Kinard, grandchildren, Lindsay (Kenneth) Mathews, Leigh (Graham) Hixon, Kellen and Hannah Kinard, great grandson, Easton as well as his devoted caregiver, Dorothy Jarrell. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 12 PM until 1 PM at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Funeral service will be held 2 PM Tuesday, May 27th from the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland with Rev. Dennis Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
