

Tommy (T.C.) Eddy Cates was a native of Kodak, Tennessee and resident of Eight Mile, Alabama. He passed away Saturday afternoon, July 27, 2024. He moved to Mobile, Alabama, January 25, 1960. He went to work for W.T. Ratliff and worked until 1975, when he went to work for Hydraulic Crane Specialist where he worked for 35 years. Tommy was a member of International Operating Engineers Local 653. Tommy loved hunting, fishing and car racing. He loved to work in his garden and yard. Tommy loved his wife Marie and his family. Tommy was loved by almost everyone who knew him. He was a person that you couldn't help but like.
He was proud of his job as a hydraulic crane operator at Hydraulic Crane Specialists in Saraland. Tommy had a heartfelt relationship and love for his special colleagues at Hydraulic Crane, whom he and Marie considered their family. Tommy was also deeply devoted to his church family at Georgetown Baptist Church in Chunchula, where his faith and community involvement were evident.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Coy, Sr. and Josie Lee Cate, brother, Coy Cate, Jr., sister-in-law, Betty Cate and nephew, Jeffrey Cate.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Marie Cates; sisters, Nancy (Larry) Johnson and Sandra (Jim) Lane, and brother, Danny (Brenda) Cate. Nieces and nephews include Dwayne (Karen) Johnson, Elaine Johnson Wilson, Bryan Cate, David Richards, Marie Spears, Jimmy King, Derrell Breckenridge, Susan Yarborough, Carole Kelly; great-nieces and nephews, Courtney (Sara) Johnson, Jenny (Neil) Norman, Aaron (Ariel) Wilson, Jamie (Sean) Rosenthal, Brandon and Kelly Yarborough, Lane Kelly; great-great-nieces, Hanna, Masie, and Ella Johnson, Grace Norman, Rylan and Emma Rosenthal, Elijah and Atlas Wilson, and many other relatives and friends.Today the family sorrows only because of their loss. They are assured as Tommy was that he is in Heaven with his LORD JESUS CHRIST AND SAVIOR.
A funeral service will be held at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway, Saraland, at 11am on August 2, 2024, the family will receive friends beginning at 10am. Followed by a burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
