Walter "Pete" Maples

Walter "Pete" Maples - a 78 year-old resident of Eight Mile died at a local hospital on Saturday, November 23, 2013. Pete formerly owned and operated two automotive shops. His most recent business was P&M Construction which he operated for 16 years. After retiring, he spent his time pursuing his love of horses. Pete was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Janice Maples; parents, Viola and Dan Maples; and sisters, Frances Brazell, Louise Woodard, and Willie Mae Shelby. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Mabrey Maples; son, Walter Allen Maples; grandson, Justin Bumgarner; and granddaughter, Denise Powell. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, November 29, 2013, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Indian Springs Cemetery on Lott Road. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Bumgarner, Jay Mabrey, Danny Woodard, Sam Nichols, James Bennett, and Randy Woodard with Nathan Evans and Kenneth Brannon serving as honoraray pallbearers.
