
William Clabrun Dobbs, Jr., resident of Satsuma, AL, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Providence Hospital in Mobile after a long and arduous battle with plastic bronchitis and congestive heart failure. Born January 14, 1944, in Flora, MS, W.C. grew up in Kentucky and Illinois. He moved to Mobile in 1965, where he graduated as a member of the charter class of the University of Mobile in 1967. He later received his Master of Church Music degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His ministry of more than 50 years included youth, music, and religious education in Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. His career concluded with service to special needs students at Augusta Evans School in Mobile.
To his final breath, he was lovingly cared for by his wife of 45 years, Betty Sellers Dobbs. Other survivors include his mother Jeanette Dobbs, sisters Susan Dobbs Nations and LeAnne Dobbs Clay; son, William Clabrun Dobbs, III and daughter-in-law Holly; daughter, Leah Dobbs Black and son-in-law, Nathan; daughter, Rachel Dobbs; six grandchildren, Will Dobbs, Hope Dobbs, Wes Dobbs, Gabriella Black, Isabella Black, and Ella Black; and, other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. W.C. Dobbs, Sr. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 17 at the First Baptist Church of Satsuma at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon preceding the service. As he lived his life selflessly to the end, he donated his body to medical research. Absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jeanette L. Dobbs Scholarship fund at the University of Mobile, 5835 College Parkway, Mobile, AL 36613.
