

Andrew William Bellis Jr, 78 of Petersburg, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL, surrounded by his family. He was born September 24, 1942 in Gary Indiana to Andrew & Sylvia Bellis.
Andy proudly served our nation as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. His civilian career started at US Steel in Gary, IN, as a member of the fire department. He then joined the Portage Police Department where he started the Arson Investigation unit. In 1981 he was given the opportunity to open the only Illinois office for INS Investigations as Special Chief Agent in Springfield. He finished his career as owner of Bellis Investigative Services.
Andy had a great sense of humor and knew more trivia than most. He was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and liked NASCAR before it was cool. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jackie, son Mark, daughter-in-law, Kari and his beloved granddaughters, Madelyn & Emma of Springfield, brothers Bill (wife Marge) of Merrillville, IN, Mike (wife Cheryl) of Maryland and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Andy will be buried at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota Florida Memorial contributions may be made to the Petersburg Rural Fire Department, P O Box 343, Petersburg, IL 62675
