Andrew Michael Vignola, Sr. passed away at Sarasota Memorial Hospital on January 21, 2026, at the age of 87. Andy was born on September 6, 1938 in Manhattan, New York and was raised in the Bronx, New York. He attended St. Raymond’s Elementary School and Cardinal Hayes High School where he played football, track and field sports, and was a drummer in multiple bands. He remained a lifelong faithful Catholic. He pursued a college degree, taking many night courses until his expanding responsibilities precluded further study. Andy met challenges head on and made the most of every opportunity. He loved life and worked and played hard. He made many personal sacrifices to best provide and care for his loved ones. He built a varied and successful career in Information Technology functioning in many senior level positions including working for NCR in Ohio; Citibank, The Dime, and IGIC, in New York; and Society for Savings, Cosign (as CEO of his own bank servicing business), and both Webster Bank and Peoples United Bank (as an independent contractor), in Connecticut. He earned the loyalty of his employees, many of whom followed him from job to job, and maintained lifelong relationships with colleagues and childhood friends. Andy traveled extensively for business and was active in a number of IT and Banking trade organizations including the Connecticut Bankers Association and the Data Processing Management Association.
Andy had many varied interests including rooting for the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers football teams and UCONN women’s and men’s basketball teams, extensive foreign and domestic travel, and he was a prolific reader and history buff. Throughout his lifetime, Andy’s work and interests brought him to various places, and he owned several properties including a condo in the foothills of Carefree, Arizona; a lakeside cottage he built in Charlestown, Rhode Island; primary residences in Enfield, Cheshire and Beacon Falls, in Connecticut; and his final home in Sarasota, Florida, where he resided since 2020.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary (Romano) Vignola; his sister, Mary (Vignola) Maher, and his brother James Vignola, Sr.

His wife wishes to acknowledge and will be forever grateful to many medical professionals and staff for the excellent & compassionate care they provided to Andy and in particular to Enhabit Home Health, Sarasota Memorial Outpatient Rehab in the PT Pavilion, and Aviata at Beneva skilled nursing facility where Andy resided for the last short period of his life.
The loss of Andy’s larger than life presence and engaging personality has left a large void in the lives of those who loved and cherished him. Andy will be greatly missed by his wife and extended family, many lifelong friends and colleagues, and former employees.
