Annie B Griffith

Annie B. Griffith was born on December 6, 1942 in Edmonson, Arkansas. She is the daughter of Granville and Emma Whitter and the youngest of 4 children. At an early age, Annie always understood the importance of love and family. She embodied that same love in her own family throughout her life.

In 1967, she and her late husband Robert E. Griffith, moved to Venice, Florida for a new job opportunity for Robert. Annie helped to support the family as a domestic. She used her loving ways to raise her children. Annie was known as “momma” by her grandchildren and many in the community.

Annie was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness and that is when Annie found her true calling in life – sharing the good news with others so they have an opportunity for eternal life in God’s Kingdom. Annie was an avid student of the Bible and spent countless hours in field ministry, enjoying return visits, and conducting Bible studies.

Annie really enjoyed spending time with family. This included road trips, beach outings, and traveling abroad with family. She was the calming voice that provided wisdom to ensure people were headed down the right road of life.

She is survived by her 6 children, Faye Lawson (Mark), Kaye Columbus (Gil), William Demetrios Young, Fulton “Bobby” Griffith, Maria Ash (Douglas), her stepson Charles Ray Darby, and her sister Sylvia Young. Annie leaves to mourn 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

We all will dearly miss our beloved Annie B. Griffith.

A memorial service for Annie will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5148 17th St, Sarasota, FL 34235.
