I remember her showing me her doll collection when she lived with her daughter.  She was very proud of her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She lived a long time and will be missed.  There will be many memories of her to share at future gatherings.  I was grateful I saw her at a Zoom conference celebrating her 100th birthday a few days before her passing.  She will be uniting with her brothers and sisters one of which was my mother, Celine.  Our condolences to all.

My dear abuelita. To write a memory of you is to write the story of my life for you were right there with me for so much of it. I remember visiting you when you lived in Miami and the hill Kristina and I loved to go over on the way to your house. (Turns out what we once thought was a big adventurous hill is basically a speed bump...there are no hills of note in Miami.) We loved playing cars and the funny sound we could make smacking our legs down on the speckled floor in the back room. You moved in with us when I was 5, and I loved popping in to your mother in law suite many times each day. There are too many memories to count, but here are some of my favorites - cream of wheat you made me for breakfast (how I loved the lumps!), watching The Price is Right/World News Tonight (Peter Jennings edition)/TGIF sitcoms with you in your living room, you teaching me to sew on a button (it never really took), peeling potatoes with you for the mashed potato dish at each holiday meal, listening to records with you on your record player, how much you loved frosting sugar cookies at Christmas and coloring eggs at Easter, the countless times we walked all through the house searching for your “baby” (your cane) because you had left it somewhere, your 80th birthday in Puerto Rico, visiting Titi Celine in PR (and watching you both say goodbye for what you knew would be the last time), how you jumped up to me each time you saw me and were amazed at my height (greater than yours since I was in 4th grade). The list goes on and on. There is a quote that sums it up perfectly: though she be but little, she is fierce. Gracias por todo. Te quiero mucho.

I remember Titi Lula when living in the Washington Heights area in New York when I was a little girl.  l unintentionally sat on a hot radiator & burned myself.  Mami called Titi Lula and she came right away to help heal.  When we went to NY in 1968 to see my Dad in the hospital Titi invited us for dinner and cooked a fabulous manicotti dinner.  I also remember when Titi, Eladio & Maira moved to CA in the early 70s.  Eladio became a superintendent in an apartment building in Hollywood.  Unfortunately, the 1971 earthquake sent them back to NY.  We went to Florida in 2009 & were able to stay at Maira & Al’s house in Sarasota to be able to visit her for two weeks.  Another visit to Florida in 2015 took us to Tampa to see her at the Senior facility where she was residing.  She will truly be missed.

How can I forget Titi Lula? I remember visiting her in New York and on Saturdays or Sundays quite a few cousins and another one of her sisters, Titi Pastora, used to take the Ferry across and enjoy the ride, we did this quite often, it was nice getting together in the summer. Also, Tio Eladio telling me stories about Cuba, when I visited this island a few years ago, I stopped in Cienfuegos, where he was from, cute little town. 
A few years back, I drove down to Tampa with my sister, Zahydie and we visited with her, that was our main purpose, to spend quality time with her. I will never forget her, she was a year younger than my dad and every so often my dad used to tell me that because there 3 of them that were a year apart. Rest in Peace, Titi Lula, you are now with the rest of your siblings welcoming you with open arms as you are the last one to leave this earth.❤️

My childhood memories of growing up in New York are of the families of Titi Lula and Titi Celine.  They made the biggest family impressions in my childhood.  I was aware of the other Nieves in the family but these ladies were the closest to me outside of my own family.  After all these years it amazes me to think how well I remember those years.  Its when you become an adult that memories seem to run together, but childhood memories stick in your brain and never get lost.   Titi Lula is one memory that lasts.

Titi Lula was the last surviving aunt on my paternal side of the family and although she lived in the States I had the pleasure of meeting her in Puerto Rico when she visited. I also met up with her in NYC when I was 10 and was visiting family there. We then made another connection in CA and finally in FL when my sister Wanda and I visited with her.  She was the aunt who always lived at a distance from where I lived but I never forgot.  Whenever we chatted (about once a year) she always asked about my family and had a very sharp memory. 
My deepest condolences to Maira, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. May titi Rest In Peace with Eladio, abuelo, abuela and all her siblings. She must have had a GRAND entrance and reception in God’s glory.

I am one of Titi Lula’s nieces.  My father’s name was Andres, one of her siblings.  She looks so much like her father,  and some of her siblings.  I remember the times papi used to talk about his sister Lula who lived in NY.  It sounds like she lived a long, wonderful life.  May she rest in peace with abuela Isa, abuelo Marce,  papi, and the rest of her siblings. My condolences to the family.

Laurie and I had several opportunities to get to know your Mom/Grandmother a little bit. But my memory is actually of my father Bill Lutz Senior when he went and spent prolonged TIME with you guys in Sarasota. He always spoke very fondly of his time he spent with your grandmother. Very cool woman!
