

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 7, 1950, Carol pursued a distinguished career in education, earning a Master’s degree in Arts and Reading Education. She devoted 26 years to teaching middle school English in Holland, Michigan, where she was celebrated for her innovative approach, including TV-recorded classes and summer school programs designed to train fellow educators.
Carol’s vibrant spirit extended well beyond her professional life. An avid traveler, she explored all 50 states, as well as the Caribbean, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the USSR. Her adventures were joyfully shared through social media, where she and her husband documented their culinary experiences at various restaurants. Her love for colorful, fashionable clothing mirrored her lively personality.
Her hobbies included tennis, pickleball, mahjong, bridge, canasta, and bunco. Carol also took great delight in decorating her home to celebrate all holidays, showcasing her patriotic spirit through her love for the American flag and her deep commitment to her country.
Carol is survived by her devoted partner, Ronald John Botts; her sister, Susan Wellington; son-in-law, Troy Botts, and his wife, Page; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Carter Botts and Maddison Botts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Marie Wellington.
A graveside service will be held at Robert Toale and Sons, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34232, at 2 PM on Friday, September 6. Following the service, a celebration of Carol’s life will take place at the Shoreview Amenity Center, 7960 Grande Shores, Sarasota, FL 34240, at 4 PM. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring and remembering a woman whose warmth, enthusiasm, and love for life touched many.
