Charlotte was born in the Bronx, NY June 5th, 1945 to her wonderful parents Nathan and Paula Soloman, who affectionately nicknamed her “Cha-Cha.” She grew up in Forest Hills, NY with her parents and sister Robin, and decided to become a cosmetologist at the young age of 16. Charlotte was a very gifted hairdresser and continued in the profession for 60 years in both New York and Florida. She also had a passion for music and was an extremely talented singer. As a teenager, she performed in local doo-wop groups around New York City and recorded lead vocals for the single “Dreamland.” She met her first love Raymond in 1961. They married in 1963 and went on to have three children together. Years later, Charlotte moved to South Florida to be with her parents. It was there that she joined “The Bravados,” a 50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll cover band, as a lead vocalist. Charlotte loved singing on stage with the band and had an incredible voice, which was often compared to the likes of Connie Francis and Brenda Lee. She performed for thousands of people with The Bravados, and their albums were always her favorite music to listen to. Charlotte remarried in 1984 and had her fourth child with her husband Michael, who was a guitarist for the band.
Charlotte was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her first love Raymond, sister Robin, daughter Kim, son Eric and daughter-in-law Claudia, daughter Paula and son-in-law Eddy, son Adam, grandchildren Frank, Andrea, Dylan, Matthew, and Dovelyn, granddaughter-un-law Sabrina, great-grandson Adam, nieces Cami and Jodi, nephew Jerry, brother-in-law Jeffrey, and her life-long friends Beverly and Sharon. She is preceded in death by her parents Nathan and Paula, husband Michael, and daughter-in-law Nathalie.
Charlotte was one-of-a-kind, and if you knew her, you can attest to that. She had a big personality, a big heart, and loved giving to others. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, always stood up for what she believed in, and was always herself. She was very trusting and chose to see the good in others. Charlotte was the most selfless mother, always thinking of her children and putting them before herself. She was always there for her family to give a listening ear, advice, and comfort. Above all, she loved unconditionally. Family was the most important thing to Charlotte and she loved her family more than words could explain. She also loved animals and had many pets over the years including her dog Lady, quaker parrot Sergina, dog Baby (that she rescued), and her granddogs Yuki, Chewie, Zack, and Marty. She loved coffee, Chinese food, pizza, ice cream, and pretty much any kind of delicious food. She was an incredible cook, known for her famous Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She enjoyed swimming, walking, shopping (especially when things were on sale!), writing stories and songs, singing karaoke, watching action movies at full volume, and keeping up with politics on the news. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with loved ones.
For nearly 3 ½ years, Charlotte battled pancreatic cancer with incredible strength, determination, and a positive attitude. Even in the most difficult and dire situations, she held her head high and kept her faith in God. If you asked her how she was doing, she would always say “I’m fine” or “I feel good.” She always said she believed she was healed and her family believes that her positive outlook, strong will, love for her family, and zest for life kept her going for so long. Charlotte left a legacy that will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beyond. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and resting with God.
Burial will be held at Palms Memorial Park on Monday, April 1st at 2:30 pm.
