Constance (Connie) Fournier Tuley, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on August 14, 1943, she was the daughter of Thomas B. Fournier and Genevieve Weiss Schuchert.
Connie graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Toledo and met the love of her life, Dick Tuley, at The University of Toledo. They married on June 6, 1964, and recently celebrated 60 wonderful years together in 2024, surrounded by family and friends in a joyous milestone event.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Craig, who passed away five years ago, as well as her sister, Carol, and brother, Buzz. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dick; her daughter, Jeanne Caswell, and her husband, Bob; her son, Jeff Tuley, and his wife, Jill; and her cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Dreyer and her husband, Mark; Allison Hernandez and her husband, Juan; and grandsons Charlie, Joshua, and Zach. She also leaves behind her siblings: Janis Conway (Dale), Donna Gladwell (Tony), Richard (Rock) Fournier (Margo), and Beth Widmer (Jeff); as well as her brother-in-law, Bill Koch, and sister-in-law, Patricia Fournier.
As one of seven children, Connie deeply valued family above all else. When she and Dick retired to Sarasota in the mid-1990s, she embarked on a mission to bring as many family members as possible to Florida, a mission that continues even now. Her efforts resulted in several loved ones, including her late son Craig and his family and Beth & Jeff, all making the Sarasota area their homes. One of her grandsons, set to graduate from Florida Gulf Coast University this spring, will soon marry and settle in the area, a testament to her enduring influence.
Connie enjoyed golf—not for competition, but as a social event where she formed lasting friendships. She treasured her time at Walnut Hills Country Club in Michigan and University Park Country Club in Florida. A dedicated community member, she chaired a major holiday fundraiser for a hospital in Lansing, was an active member of the Junior League in Akron, Ohio, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
A passionate traveler, Connie explored the world with Dick, vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand. Their year living in England in the late 1960s ignited a lifelong love for travel, and they had been eagerly planning a trip to Italy’s Amalfi Coast this fall.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Connie’s life at calling hours on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home on Honore Avenue in Sarasota. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 14, at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, followed by entombment and a luncheon at The Palms Memorial Park on Honore Avenue.
In honor of Connie and her late son Craig, donations may be made to the Suncoast Blood Bank.
She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
