My heart is broken with this sad news!  I know it took me some time to express my feelings and for that I apologize! 

I’m so sorry 😢 for our loss of David, Jr..  He was such a sweet young man!  He always had a smile on his face no matter what kind of a day he may have had.  Such great hugs to give!

He did everything right for his family!  Also did great things for his extended kids from all the teams he coached.  He was his son’s greatest fan and I know was extremely proud of Jaiden!

Keep his memories alive in your heart and mind!  Because he loved you all so much and gave of himself to you!

I grew up with Dave in yonkers at 220. We just used to hang out, chill,  talk, and have to move from one spot to another because security wouldn't let us live..... he was always just so cool and fun to be around. 29 Years ago you were the high school   class clown that everyone wanted to be around. Funny, joking always and it was contagious. We have been through alot  as we were kids trying to survive,  but I always wanted the best for you and Jason. Words cannot ever express the feeling that happens when something this tragic occurs, but I truly hope your family especially your 2 sons can find peace when thinking of all the laughter and good times you have shared. I am so sorry  his loved ones have to feel this pain. I will pray for all of you and may David RIP. 

To my loving nephew David who brought so much joy and happiness in our lives from the moment he was born with those beautiful big eyes, long eyelashes, jet black hair and the cutest smile that brightened up the whole room. I knew then that he was going to become the great young man he was.  David and I enjoyed talking to each other. He would tell me all about Jaiden and his accomplishments and how proud he is of him.   David I’m so happy of all the accomplishments that you have achieved in your life for yourself, your wife, and sons. David you will always be with all of us in our minds, our thoughts, our hearts and in our prayers. I love you David.

I have had the privilege of working with David's mother, Nancy Rivera, for many years. She always spoke so fondly of David & his family over the years. She is certainly a very proud mother & grandmother. I am keeping the Mercado/Rivera in my prayers & hope that their faith can help them during this difficult time. Rest in Peace David. 

Little Dave was what we called you in your younger days and even now, when you talked about you and all the positive things that you were doing.  Till we meet again.  May you rest in peace.

       We lost you too soon Bro. I’m so lost for words but I want to express my feelings. You set a great example since I was young on how to be a great family man. You always kept your family first and were always there for Yarelis,
Jaiden, family, and friends. I am so proud of you because of the struggles you endured growing up, you persevered  and made an amazing life for your family and yourself. 

You glowed when you spoke about Jaiden and all his accomplishments. You glowed when talking about your Family and move to Florida and how you were so happy there. It was all I wanted to hear from you because it lit up my heart to know that you were happy. I knew you didn’t need much from me but I’m glad you always reached out to my family and I. I’m thankful for the time we had together and sad because it wasn’t supposed to be like this. We were supposed to grow old together and talk about our kids and grandkids and how we made it despite the things we went through. Talk about how proud we were of each other but we won’t get that and I’m so sad. I know you will watch over us and want us to be happy like you were but it will be hard for some time. 

Just know I’ll be here for your family as you would mine. Just know that we love you and will be talking to you through our prayers and thoughts. Just know you still live through us in your smile, jokes , and good heart. Thank you for being my Big Brother, setting the example, and making the Mercado name proud. I love you with all my heart and I hope I don’t bother you too much when I talk to you through my prayers. Watch over us Dave.

Story behind the picture:
I was about 17-18 and Dave reached out to me and said we should go surprise Dad with visit from all of his boys. He knew Dad would flip out because Dave and I were always hard to find in one spot but whenever we did it was a good time. 
Long story short: My Dad still refers to it as one of the best days of his life. 

Rest In Peace Dave🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I have a lot of fond memories of you from your days at YES. Thanks for your great service.

Before coming from New York to Florida, & being a cousin of Yarelis. I met D over the phone, talking over the phone like 2 little school girls. Mets, Trucking and how freaking hot Florida, was the main subjects.. A cool ass dude from the get. It was always a pleasure visiting my cousin and D, spending multiple nights at the Mercado's, as I use to call it. No matter how ripped he got from the night before, this dude can hold his liquor, lol. he always had breakfast ready for my wife and I. We even had talks about opening up a little eatery, calling it, "bacon,egg & cheese" North heads know that saying. Typical bodega talk.. A Humble, loving husband and the coolest dad. Something I admired and will take with me forever & wherever I go.  I love you D. Definitely be missed.

I just wanted to say that I love you and I’m sorry we didn’t get to spend much time with each other like maybe we should’ve as adults.  We were so close as kids. You always made me laugh because you were such a clown.  Even when we didn’t see each other for 3-4 years when we did get together it was like we were never apart. I love you cuzzie and I’ll never forget you. You will always be in my heart. Ron and kids all love you very much as well and have great memories with you.

I remember when you were just a baby and so was I. You were always Happy, Smiling and Humble. Such a great Son to your mom and dad, a great Husband to your wife and a Great Father to your sons! God has opened up his arms for you much to soon. You were loved here by many and will be missed more than you will know. Your legacy lives on in your children and your memory lives on in all of us.
God give this family the strength to move forward from this loss and realize that this wonderful man made a difference in so many peoples lives for the short time he was here.
