Mr. Santiago was born on September 26, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the UPR-Mayaguez campus where he received a degree in Chemical Engineering and later earned a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. He worked for many years as a chemical engineer and proudly served as a veteran of the United States Navy.
He had a deep passion for classical music and enjoyed the piano.
He is survived by his siblings, Evelyn Santiago, Luis A. Santiago, Milton Santiago, and Jorge Santiago Gaetán.
A private committal service will be held at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery.
Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park is in charge of the arrangements.
