Dennis Reginald Fredenburg was born Sept. 22, 1936 to Gaylord and Olga Kalk Fredenburg in Michigan City, Indiana. He comes from a family of 10 children. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters as well as his parents.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Susan Joyce Greenlee Fredenburg and sons Kevin Robert Fredenburg and Timothy Lee Fredenburg. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Rodney and Randy Fredenburg and one sister Lorraine Bessemer and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dennis was an engineer and designed heavy duty military equipment and semi trailers. He was the Director of Maintenance at the Sarasota Family YMCA and after retirement became a multi-talented handyman. He could fix almost anything.
For many years he served as a Deacon at South Trail Church of Christ. Dennis enjoyed his 1958 Corvette and sports car rallies, golfing, bowling, and playing cards with friends. He had very dry sense of humor and enjoyed winning unexpectedly in games. In earlier years, he and his brothers hunted pheasant in South Dakota and crows in Michigan. He loaded his own shotgun shells for their hunting trips.
For several years he struggled with the cruel disease of Dementia, and has now been set free from its scars. Dennis was a kind, gentle man who loved God, his family, and friends. He lived and worked as the example of treating others as he’d like to be treated. We will miss him dearly and look forward to spending eternity together in Heaven.
