I was just going thru some of my old hockey paperwork and found a picture from my sons Nassau County Midget team. Out of curiosity I googled Dennis( D-Mac) to see what he was up to. I was shocked and saddened to see of his passing last year. Dennis was a really good guy. A big kid at heart. He taught the game of hockey extremely well, but more importantly made it fun. Any parent or child that has participated in travel hockey knows how competitive and unfortunately, some times “cut throat and political” it can be. That was NEVER an issue in our locker room with him.  My 3 sons played from Mite thru college and that was our favorite season by far thanks to D-Mac. Rest well my friend. Condolences to your entire family.

His laughter was unmatched.  Beautiful soul.   Terribly missed.  

Sorry to learn of the passing of Dennis.He was a kind ,caring guy.We got to know Dennis through the Freeport Arrows hockey program. Dennis mentored my sons,he was more than a coach.He had a great way about him. The Kelly family sends there prayers and thoughts to the family. May he rest in peace,thank you Dennis for being a positive influence on my sons...always,Bob Kelly 

"Hey, Mr. B," Dennis would say to me. I'll never forget his encouragement, comedic relief, and how he took me under his wing during my year at the Macklins. What a special year it was with many fond memories with Dennis and the family. May God bless you, Dennis, and welcome you home with open arms.

Dennis was one of my lifelong friends and the best of them. He had a heart bigger than his smile.  I knew him since 1st grade at Corpus Christi. We shared many God-given great times together (e.g., 99 cent Saturday kid's meals at Friendlies, Laces/Iceland, Grillmen at McDs, Springbreak in Fort Lauderdales at Tony's place, dinners at La Parma, Malibu/125s/Club California, the budget hotel with Mr Patten while skiing at Shawnee, working with Mr. Hoffenberg w/ my dad at Continental Securities) which i will always remember.  While Dennis, like all of us, had some curves/bumps in his life journey, I always admired how he overcame life's them and became a better person as a result.  When I had them, I always knew I had someone to turn to and a shoulder to lean on.  My 19 yr son summed up  "Dukie" (Dennis' childhood nickname) best - "he was great to be around and always nice to everyone. He always made me laugh." In closing, I want to use a phrase Duke used when he liked a person - Duke, you were a "good egg" my friend..." RIP and watch over us. We will pray for your soul and give thanks to God for allowing us to have crossed paths and spend a good part of 45+ yrs.  Thank you! We loved you! Anthony, Kristen and Alex (The Patten Family)
