Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of a U.S. Armed Forces member, Ed was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother. He was known for his kind heart, steady presence, and unwavering love for his family.
Ed had a lifelong passion for fishing and the game of baseball. He found peace on the water, spending countless hours casting a line and enjoying the quiet rhythm of nature. Off the water, he dedicated many years to umpiring baseball and softball—giving back to the game he loved and mentoring young players with fairness and integrity.
Though his journey with a disorder brought profound physical challenges, Ed met each day with courage, grace, and dignity. His strength and resilience were a true reflection of his character—steadfast, generous, and full of heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Jackson, and son-in-law, Jamie Jackson; grandchildren, Kennedy and Camryn Jackson; his brothers, Edgar (Dalynn) and Larry Sotomayor; and his sister, Adaline Williams. He is also remembered by his former wife, Sandra Wade, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his son, Edward Sotomayor Jr.; his parents, Irene and Jesus Sotomayor; and his nephew, Brian Williams.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warm smile, quiet strength, and love of life will live on in the memories he leaves behind.
