Ellie, born in Boston, MA in 1924, was a longtime resident of Sarasota. She was a woman of great strength and resilience, deeply admired and loved by her family and friends. She loved travel, the beach, golfing, Florida weather, and most importantly, her friends and family. Ellie was a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and a volunteer at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. She died peacefully at her current home in Arnold, MD.
Ellie was the beloved wife of the late Joseph T. Svehlak; devoted mother of Robert (Bev) Svehlak of Arnold, MD, and of Judith A. Wilson of Brooklyn Park, MN; loving grandmother of Bryan, Anthony, Thomas, Casey, Kelly, and Stephen, and of great-grandchildren Eliana, Alexandra, Eli, Ethan, and MaKenzie. She was one of eleven siblings: dear sister of the late Rita Murphy, John Carty, Mary Mullen, Thomas Carty, Anne Barry, Theresa Carlson, Walter Carty, Dorothy Johnson, Agnes Lyons, and Joseph Carty.
Funeral services will be held on April 29, 2021: Viewing at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home (170 Honore Ave; Sarasota, FL 34232) from 9-10 a.m.: followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church (7900 Bee Ridge Rd; Sarasota, FL 34241) at 11 a.m. Burial at Sarasota National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
