Siegel, Ethel Coots, 77, of Sarasota passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 22, 2015 after a courageous battle with heart and lung issues. She was born August 5, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Maurice and Fannie Glass. Coots, as she was known to all, was a member of Temple Emanu-El. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who treated all people equally regardless of their skin color, age or economic status.
Coots had an infectious, warm and fun loving personality. She was an avid golfer and passionate advocate of women’s rights and health. As a survivor of breast and ovarian cancer, Coots would often counsel women battling cancer with hours of emotional and spiritual support.
She is survived by her best friend and husband, Morton Siegel; sons, Terry R. Siegel (Maya) and Randall M. Siegel (Claudia); daughter, Debby L. Greenberg (Jonathan); sister, Dianne Sweer; grandchildren, Josh Siegel, Alec Siegel, Mitchell Siegel, Carly Siegel, Abbey Siegel, Ari Siegel, Lindsey Greenberg and Jake Greenberg; many other loving family members and circle of good friends. Graveside services will be held Sunday, December 27 at 11 AM at Temple Beth Shalom Cemetery, Sarasota, Florida. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society. Coots will be deeply missed and forever loved.
