He was born on September 27, 1941 in Utica, NY to the late Moe and Mae Cohen. He had a brother, Herbert, and sister, Arlene. Gene was a graduate of Syracuse University. He had a career as a financial advisor, but his true passion was restoration and enjoyment of classic cars. Gene was a longtime and active member of the Sunshine Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (“AACA”) as well as the Suncoast British Car Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Sharon, son Sanford, and daughter Mindy. He leaves behind children Andrew (Allison), and Randall (Caryn), daughter in law Lauren and his grandchildren: Camryn, Spencer, Kaila, Daniel, Samantha, Emily, and Ethan.
A graveside service for Gene will be held Monday, March 2, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Temple Beth Sholom cemetery, 801 Circus Blvd., Sarasota, FL.
