
Gene R. Osborne, 81 of Bradenton, FL passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016. Born in Erie, PA in 1934, Gene spent most of his life in Ashtabula, OH where he attended Edgewood High School, before graduating from American School in Chicago.
Always ambitious, Gene started working young at a dairy farm. Among his many jobs, he worked at Union Carbide in Ashtabula and as an automobile salesman.
During the Korean War, Gene served in the US Navy Seabees. Upon his return, he met and married Judy Hammond. Together they enjoyed riding their motorcycles and using their boat on Lake Erie.
Upon retirement, Gene and Judy wintered for six years in Florida before moving there permanently.
During his time in Ashtabula, Gene belonged to Rising Sun Masonic Lodge and El Kadir Grotto. At the time of his death, he belonged to Caliph Grotto in Mentor, OH; Sahib Shrine in Sarasota; and the VFW of FL.
Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years Judith, and two nephews in OH, Robert, Jr. of Ashtabula and William of Conneaut. He was predeceased by his two brothers: Robert, Sr. and Richard.
Visitation will be held on Sat., May 21, 2016 from 10AM until the service at 11AM at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa or the Ellenton Hospice House.
