Geoffrey Kerwin was born on July 29th, 1951 to Christopher Kerwin and Leona (Trzaska) Kerwin. His childhood was spent in South River, NJ where he looked up to his older sister Joan and enjoyed time spent with cousins and extended family. He graduated from St. Peter’s High School, where he was proudly a member of the 1968 state champion basketball team. Geoffrey subsequently went to college at Mount St. Mary’s in Maryland. Upon graduation in 1973, he moved back to New Jersey to begin a career in law enforcement. Shortly thereafter he met and fell in love with his future wife Karen. Together they started a family and raised their three sons (Timothy, Kenneth, and Michael) in New Jersey.
Geoffrey Kerwin honorably worked through the ranks at Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office over the years, ultimately becoming Captain prior to his retirement in 2006. At that time, he and Karen moved to Sarasota, FL. He enjoyed golfing, going to the beach, vacationing with his wife, going to concerts (especially classic rock), and attending Florida Gator sporting events with his sons. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his six beautiful granddaughters (Daniella, Gianna, Violet, Annabelle, Magnolia, and Cecilia).
Geoffrey was a principled person who valued honesty, loyalty, hard work, and punctuality. Those who had the pleasure to know him developed a great respect for him and enjoyed his sense of humor. Although he was humble, his accomplishments touched the lives of many. His greatest legacy is his family, for which he always had a tremendous sense of pride. He is deeply missed by his wife Karen Kerwin, sons Timothy (along with wife Lillian and daughters Violet, Annabelle, Magnolia, and Cecilia), Kenneth (along with wife Melissa and daughters Daniella and Gianna), and Michael (along with wife Jennifer), and sister Joan Foster (along with husband Gilbert and son Christopher).
