George F. McLaughlin

Born on April, 27, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA along with his twin sister, Georgette, to George F. and Catherine M. (Bell) McLaughlin, Sr.

He is predeceased by his parents, aunt Henrietta and uncle George Whiting, and father-in-law Peter Virelli

Formerly of Chadds Ford, PA, George and his wife a nearly 40 years, fulfilled their dream to move to Florida in January 2001. Although he was retired, he went back to work a month later, and served as the CFO and Corporate Secretary for the The Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida, until his retirement in 2009.

He was an accomplished man, graduated Monsignor Bonner in Dexel Hill, Pa (1965), earned his BS, Magna Cum Laude, from Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pa (1970), achieved his CPA in 1973, and continued his education earning his MBA from St. Joseph University in Philadelphia, Pa (1983).

He began his working career in 1970, with Ernst & Ernst Accounting firm until 1979 when he transitioned into a fulfilling position with a client, and served as CFO at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Chester, Pa. (1979-1990). He wasn't as fond of retirement as he thought he would, and returned to work for The Philadelphia Child Guidance Center as the Executive VP, CFO and COO (1991-1997). Again, he tried retirement but he realized he had more to give to the world of healthcare. He accepted his final position in Pa, as CEO and Senior VP for Mercy Health System, Havertown Pa (1998-1999).

He is survived by his wife, Diane (Virelli) of 39 years, sons Mark (Meg) of Arlington Va and David of Lakeland Fl. Daughter Karen McLaughlin Ganci (Tony) their daughters Kaitlyn and Maddie Ganci, of Mulberry Fl. His sister, Georgette McLaughlin O'Connor and her husband, Dan, Sr. He also leaves behind sisters-in -law, Linda Wellock, Cathy Dankel, brother in law Frank. And his mother-in-law, Betty Virelli.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Sat, July 6 at 10am at Sacred Heart Church in Bradenton, FL.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in George's name to Tidewell Hospice or the Washington Humane Society.
