

James was born on November 25, 1958, in Wyandotte, MI, to Dean & Marilyn Eastman. He graduated Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1977, where he held the fastest time for the 50-yard freestyle swim; and Ohio School of Lincoln in 1987. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1981 through 1984; and was given the nickname “Smedley” (as in Smedley Butler) when, in boot camp, he won the Smokers/boxing title for his weight class before serving the rest of his enlistment a Combat Engineer. He enjoyed swimming, archery, motorcycling, and hiking the Appalachian Trail with his brother, Scott, and nephews, Blake & Christopher; Jimmy enjoyed golfing with his father and his brother,and was also an avid movie & music buff. He spent his career in Florida as an AC & Refrigeration Tech for Raynor Refrigeration. His co-workers were family to him, as well.
James is preceded in death by his father, Dean and nephew Blake Eastman. He’s survived by his mother, Marilyn; wife, Tammi "Sugarbutton" Virginia Eastman; and siblings, Scott (Tina Marie) Eastman, Carol Eastman (Thomas) Brustad, Rosemary Dupont, and Leah (Charles) Fromer, niece's Christina, Gudger, Morgan Gudger and nephew Christopher Eastman. He loved his pets like children and will be equally missed by Luke, Sugar Head, Moe Howard, Ty, Silver, Marshall Dillon, and Nikita.
A visitation for Jimmy will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232, a service will he held at 6:00 PM during the visitation and open to everyone.
