James F. Gulsby, 82, of Sarasota, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023. Born on December 23rd, 1941, in Atmore, AL to the late Cecil Clinton Gulsby and Mattie Martha (Sanders) Gulsby; James had been a resident of Sarasota / Old Miakka for many years.
He was a plumbing contractor (JG Plumbing & James F. Gulsby Plumbing) for many years prior to his retirement. He was also very involved in the Gulf Coast Kiwanis Club, the Cattleman’s Association, and in purchasing livestock from FFA and 4H members at our local county fair. He was a pillar of our county community.
Survivors include his brother, John Albert Gulsby of Torrance, CA., his son, James F. Gulsby Jr and Grandsons TJ and Justin Gulsby and bonus grandsons Dustin,Tanner, and Clayton Troglen . Plus his bonus children Jeri Anne Blanton, Tami Otero, Thomas Blanton (deceased), and Terri McCleod and bonus grandchildren Jessica and Jennifer (deceased), Tommy, and Nina all from Sarasota, FL.
ALL are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at 4:00pm at the American Legion Post 266 on 5201 Richardson Road in Sarasota.
A “private burial” will be held at the Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sarasota, earlier that day for family only. Thank You.
