

He was born April 13, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Arthur and Mildred (Stephenson).
He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp. while stationed in Italy, during WWII.
He worked as a machinist and made guidance systems for NASA; when visiting NASA, he was given the highest clearance to tour the facilities--not even his family members were allowed to tour with him. While active in the American Legion, James served as a Chaplain.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria; sons, Robert Reedy, of Sarasota, Thomas (Renee) Reedy, of Sarasota; step-son, Trampas Thompson, of Tennessee; step-daughters, Lori (Troy) Chambers, of Sarasota, Melanie (Todd) Tschetter, of Sarasota; grandsons, Bobby Jo (Megan) Reedy, of Hartsell, AL, Tim (Melissa) Reedy, of Sarasota; granddaughters, Marie (Charlie) Anderson, of Nokomis, Annette Monasse, of North Port, Julia Reedy, of Sarasota; step-grand-children, A.J. (Jessica) Williams, of Tampa, Matt Williams, of Sarasota, Ashley (Nigel) Swilley, of Lehigh Acres, Katelyn Applegate, of Palmetto, Logan, Noah & Blake Thompson, of Tennessee, Colin Chambers, of Sarasota; great-grandchildren, Chase Reedy & Haley, Caitlin Reedy, Chelsey (Josh) Babcock, Toby Anderson, Carley, Lucas & Cody Manasse, Erin, Kendra Aryana and Isaac Reedy; step-great-grandchildren, Madison, Ella & Finley Williams, Nigel Jo & Niellie Swilley, Jasmine Williams & Skylar Janyen; great-great-grandchildren, Liam & Luke Reedy; sisters, Sharon (Al) Carlson, of Gladwin, MI, Marilyn (John) Stewart), of Bonita Springs; and many close friends he considered family.
Friends may call during visitation hours at the funeral home on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the Legacy Chapel at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park with Pastor Eric Want officiating, on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment services with military honors will be conducted at a later date.
