

Jane was born in Marion, Ohio on January 20, 1936. She grew up in Springfield, Ohio. She was a loving sister and daughter and was predeceased by her brother Jack E. Holt and parents Nelle and Edward E. Holt.
Jane was a devoted wife of 65 years to her late husband, spouse and best friend, college sweetheart Dr. Paul W. Hersey.
Jane was a loving and caring mother to her three children, Debora Anne Lobe (Robert), Diane Sue Topping (Larry), and David Paul Hersey (Keely). She was a doting Jane, “Grammy”, to her 7 grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Lindsey Lobe, Robert P. Lobe, Trevor Topping, Trent Topping, Connor Hersey and Peyton Ahern. She is also remembered by her 3 great-grandsons, Emmett Divers, Noah Johnson, and Rush Charles Topping.
Jane was a beloved member of every community in which she resided from Springfield, OH to Oxford, OH to Dayton, OH to Columbus, OH to Reston, VA to Sarasota, FL. Many friends enjoyed her sharp wit, her beautiful smile and her zest for life shown in her twinkling eyes. She is remembered as “always dignified, proper, a great neighbor, a caring volunteer, always education-minded and a faithful servant to God”.
Jane joined Hunter Laboratory Associates, Inc. in 1979 and upon retirement in 1998, she served as the 2nd female Vice-President. During her employment there, she served many years as a Human Resources Specialist. She was recognized by Leadership Fairfax in Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. as a top Human Relations leader and provided consulting to many organizations in the Washington, D.C. Metro area.
Jane was always community-oriented and volunteered at various Presbyterian churches, art institutions, and organizations geared to children, women, and education. One of her favorite affiliations began in 1965 when she joined a philanthropic organization, P.E.O., where she had been active for fifty-plus years. She held many offices for this organization including at one point, Virginia State President.
Jane had many interests and hobbies which included reading, golf, fishing, ballroom dancing, tennis softball (was a 1st baseman at age 40) the arts, crafting, and world travel with her late husband Paul.
Instead of flowers, the family requests favorite photos or memories be sent to Debbie Lobe at [email protected] to be included in a memory book for her children. Any monetary donations wishing to be made in her honor can be sent to her favorite philanthropic organization, P.E.O.’s Cottey College in Nevado, Missouri.
