Janie graduated from Sarasota High School in Sarasota, Florida, in 1972 before marrying her high school sweetheart Sydney Johnes in 1973. Janie dedicated her life to raising their two daughters and supporting Sydney while he proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and later construction and woodworking. Sydney and Janie will now be reunited after being married for 50 years.
Janie is survived by her sister Mary (John) Turvey-Moore, her daughters Julie (Adam) Herringdine and Karey (Todd) Prather; and three grandchildren, Allicyn, Tracey, and Katelyn, who were the joy of her life.
A private family memorial service will be held to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Association or a Veterans’ organization of your choice in her memory.
