Jack was the husband of Jeannine of Lakewood Ranch. Mr. Byrnes’ wife of 57 years, Jeanne preceded him in death in 2011. He was father to the late Maureen Hallagan of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, John of Worthington, Ohio, Thomas of Absecon, NJ and Richard of New Albany, Ohio. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Amanda (Byrnes) Titus, Jack Byrnes, RJ Byrnes, Anthony Byrnes, Marie-Therese Hallagan and Christine Hallagan. He has one great grandchild, John Byrnes and 3 new lives on the way this year.
Mr. Byrnes was born in Westville, NJ, attended Woodbury high school, served in the Navy as a Radarman in the Atlantic Theater during World War II and later graduated from LaSalle University in Philadelphia.
An industrial engineer, he held management positions with Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ, Sacramento, CA, Salisbury, MD and Toronto, Ontario, Canada for 19 years before joining Federated Department Stores-Lazarus Division in Columbus, OH as Assistant to the President.
Prior to his retirement he was Vice Present-Operations with Carter Hawley Hale Department Stores-John Wanamaker Philadelphia for nine years. A Roman Catholic, Mr. Byrnes was a founding parishioner of Our Lady of Angels church in Lakewood Ranch, FL, having retired in Bradenton in 1998.
Mr. Byrnes was a 3rd-degree Knight of the Knight of Columbus, making his 1st degree in 1952. A Knight for 71 years, he certainly showed his dedication to the Knights. He was a member of St. John Vianney Parish is Gladwyn, PA, for 18 years.
On February 27, 2023 a funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of The Angels 12905 State Road 70 East, Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202 at 10:30 am with a Rosary starting at 10 am.
