John Baptist Meindl

John B. Meindl, 87 of Lakewood Ranch, FL passed away on Mar. 6, 2017. He was preceded in death by his first wife Yasuko Meindl (Nishimura) of Japan, his son, Dr. James R. Meindl of Buffalo, NY. He is survived by his wife, Roberta C. Meindl (Hulday) of West Seneca, NY, whom he married in 1988, and by his daughter, Dr. Judi Holman (Karl) of Topanga, CA. John in further survived by his daughter-in-law, Roberta L. Meindl (Bann); his grandsons, Jeremy Meindl (Courtney) and Kevin Meindl (Sky), all of Buffalo, NY and a granddaughter, Jessica Holman of Topanga, CA and several great grandchildren.

On Feb. 6, 1930, John was born and raised in Buffalo until he entered the Army Air Force (USAAF) and was a veteran with The Occupational Forces in Japan and the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge from the Air Force (AF) he returned to Buffalo with his wife and son. John was employed at Iroquois Gas Company (which later became National Fuel Gas Corp.) as a construction crew member. He was promoted to Management as a Supervisor in the Engineering Department. He continued his upward progression in Management and became Corporate Purchasing Agent, Manager of Materials Management and Operational Services, Division Superintendent and eventually General Manager.

He was an active member of the American Gas Association and served as Chairman Material Standards/Physical Distribution Division.

John retired from National Fuel in 1998 and his wife Roberta, in 2003. He and Roberta moved to Rosedale GCC at Lakewood Ranch, FL from Amherst, NY in 2003.

No memorial services will be held and cremation services will be provided by Palms-Robarts Funeral Home.
