Joe moved his family to Sarasota in 1975 where he worked in construction first with Aaron Gingerich Construction and then 20 years with Bishops Aluminum drawing plans and working closely with the building departments. His hard work ethic was always evident. Even when he battled cancer years ago, he always made it into work.
Joe loved his family and was a big cheerleader as his children grew and were involved in sports and music. As his grandchildren grew and became involved in sports, music, and drama, he never missed an opportunity to be there supporting them.
Joe will be dearly missed by his wife, Carol, son Rick (Connie) and daughters Cheryl (Keith Troyer) and Theresa. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Philip, Rebecca (Ryan Miller), Amanda (Aaron Miller), Caleb, Hannah, Joshua, Nate, and his great grandchildren, Felicity and Jacob. He also leaves behind brothers Al and Dan, and sisters Marti, Mary, Nancy, and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Lydian as well as siblings Nelson, Eli, Amanda, John, Raymond, Jonathan, Vernon, and Albert.
