Kathryn passed in Sarasota, FL where she resided for over 44 years.
Born on September 4th, 1945, in Fremont, OH, the daughter of Dale and Ordean Kuns, Kathryn, lovingly called Kathy or Kitty, was a proverbial mother to many, nurturing the family she created and caring for those around them.
Kathy was the caretaker until she needed to be cared for. Raising five beautiful children with her husband of 59 years, Robert Ochs, Kathy had a full house, and an even fuller heart. After moving
to Florida, Kathy started a home daycare business where she helped raise many other children. She valued the foundation of family and selflessly committed her greatest attributes to that union. Her and Robert (Bob) had a fondness for family gatherings. They both took great pleasure in hosting their loved ones and close family friends. Kathy was a devout Catholic her entire life, and was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sarasota, FL. She shared a deep connection with her faith.
Aside from her endless generosity, Kathy was sharp and witty. The subtleties of her personality gleaned from her quick remarks and larger-than-life facial expressions, that often said more than most words could. She was resilient in her stoicism; never complaining about her chronic pain. Her mental fortitude to carry on, and remain as an active mother and grandmother, is beyond admirable.
Kathy, and her husband Bob, loved to travel and attend various events together. She adorned many glamorous gowns and had an affinity for jewelry. On their excursions, Kathy and Bob visited National Parks and enjoyed the occasional cruise. They often invited the kids to tag along on their adventures, as Kathy and Bob invested in a great wealth of memories to pass along.
We will all miss Kathy’s thoughtfulness, courage, perseverance, transcendent beauty, and her savvy, astute humor. We find comfort within our sorrow knowing that she is now at peace and no longer in pain. We will remember her with every glass of Chardonnay, every Hallmark Christmas season, and with every stirring side eye.
Kathy is survived by her daughters Tracey Marie (Tracy) Hunter, Stephanie (Rich) Bell, Kimberly (Dan) Reynolds, her son Robert M. Ochs, her grandson Reese Bell, granddaughter Emilie Bell, granddaughters Regan and Riley Reynolds, grandson Sebastian Hunter, her sisters Beverly (Robert) Crockett and Joyce (Otto) Riegger, brothers Roger (Pat) Kuns, Gary (Mary) Kuns, and Stephen (Linda) Kuns. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews from both the Ochs and Kuns families. She is predeceased by her devoted husband, Robert L. Ochs, her daughter Beth Ochs, and brothers Tom Kuns and Dick Kuns.
On behalf of Kathryn “Kathy” Ochs, we ask that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Tidewell Hospice and the Lupus Foundation of America.
A celebration of life will be held November 9th, 2025, from 3:00pm- 6:00pm at 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL, 34232 - Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park.
