Keith A. Barringer DC, of Sarasota passed away on March 30, 2021 at the age of 66. He was born July 20, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida. The youngest of three brothers, Keith was raised by his mother alone after their father abandoned them. His mother worked for the Duval County School System, and with the help of Keith’s many aunts and uncles enjoyed a fun filled childhood of fishing, building forts with his brothers. An entrepreneur from the beginning, he started a lawn mowing business at eight years old with his brothers, which he continued even through college, coming home on the weekends. Keith graduated with the Wolfson Class of 1972. He graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida with a Business Marketing degree, Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, BSBA, in 1977. After returning to Jacksonville he worked in sales and was a fine dining waiter. He loved to run in marathons over the many bridges in Jacksonville. He met his mentor Dr Steven Warfield, DC when he needed treatment for sciatica and headaches. As a result of the help he received from Dr. Warfield, he was inspired to go to Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia and graduated in 1985 with the degree Doctor of Chiropractic. Again returning to Jacksonville he found a position to begin practice in Sarasota, Florida. He opened his own practice in 1987 and continued his education for Diplomats of Orthopedics and for Rehabilitation. He was an avid student and was known as Dr Feel Good by many of his patients. He loved the service that he provided to his family of patients. He volunteered for many years at the Child Development Center helping children under the age of 5. The kids and staff looked forward to his weekly visits for years. He was an avid swimmer at the Bath and Racquet and he loved training for his yearly “Manly Man Camping Trips” that he would enjoy with other professionals in their yearly opportunity to get away from their practices to hike, ride horses and climb every mountain. He loved going to different Colorado Ski Resorts with family and friends and enjoyed many cruises with his family and close friends. He scuba dived in the Gulf with local friends and traveled the Caribbean, Jamaica and Mexico on Scuba Expeditions with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judith and their daughter Jennifer and three grandchildren Aurora, Elena and Apollo. He is survived by his brother Bruce and three nephews, Chad, Kris and Kevin and his brother, Michael. He had many cousins from the Oliver and Anderson Families in Jacksonville. He is predeceased by his mother, Minnie Oliver Barringer and his father, Castle Barringer.
A Celebration of Life Picnic will be held at the Urfer Family Park on May 25, 2021 from 11 am to 4 pm where he loved taking his grandchildren to play.
He loved serving the community in their health needs and wanted to thank everyone for being in his life. His illness in 2008 never allowed him to return to practice. He is now Resting in Peace and will be missed.
