

Larry attended Meadowdale High School, graduating in 1971, and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science from the University of Cincinnati in 1999. His career as a Lieutenant and Shift Commander at the City of Moraine Fire Department was marked by dedication and bravery.
A proud member of St. Johns Masonic Lodge #13 where he served as a Master Mason. Larry exemplified the values of brotherhood and service. He was a passionate foodie, often seeking out the best restaurants during his travels across the United States, and cherished his afternoon naps with his beloved kitty. Larry was known for his kindness, love of cooking and baking, and a keen interest in people-watching.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Burr-Winters; his children, Nicole Trefz (Adam) and Daniel Winters along with Pam Lyle, his former wife and mother of his children; stepchildren, Sarah Dunford (Joe), Robert Lucas Jr., and Jennifer Lucas (deceased). He was a proud grandfather to Caden West, Brycen West, Addyson Trefz, and Darwin Winters, and a loving step-grandfather to Aliya Lucas, Raegan Stiegler, Jenavieve Dunford, Robert Lucas III, Edwin Lucas, Steve Freels III, and Sienna Lucas.
Larry is also survived by his siblings: John Winters Jr. (Debi), Cyrus Winters (Kim), and Trudy Robbins (Donald).
Sarasota Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 26th from 1pm-4pm at Mattison's Forty-One, 7275 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Following the celebration friends and family will move to Siesta Key Beach to watch the sunset and drum circle.
The Ohio Celebration of Life will be, Sunday, Feb 9th. 1:00 - 4:30 Bennett's, 66 S Main St., Miamisburg, Ohio.
