Brooks graduated from University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He built a successful career in the printing, labels, and graphic arts industry, where he spent his professional life working with dedication and pride.
Brooks had a passion for Lionel trains, poker games, pickleball, and especially any games he could play with his family. He occasionally enjoyed an Old Fashioned or a Southern Comfort Manhattan. The way to his heart was a good burger, ribs, or a Reuben sandwich with onion rings. He loved the outdoors and throughout his life was an avid camper, boater, and golfer. He also enjoyed his church, Toastmasters, and countless projects around the house. If it involved being outside, Brooks was happy. He lived with strong values, a generous spirit, and a sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.
In The Villages, Brooks was deeply involved in the local Lionel Train community. He served as the O-Scale Chairman of the Lionel Train Club and was a founding member of the railroad club in 2006. He devoted countless hours to helping grow the club in its early years and served for many years on the club’s Board of Directors, including as Vice President. Brooks was also well known as an eBay dealer of Lionel trains and as a vendor at train expos.
Brooks is survived by his daughter, Debora Lynn Canady(William Arthur Canady); his son, Brian Alan Crum; his grandchildren, Sarah Lynn De La Cruz(Nicolas De La Cruz), Hannah Nicole Canady, and Alyssa Marie Crum; and his great-grandson, Collin Arthur Canady.
