It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved MARION ELISABETH BORNKAST (born KRAUSS), of Sarasota, Florida, who passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 7, 1940, in Plauen, Germany, Marion is predeceased by her parents Gertrud (Plomer) and Karl Richard Krauss. Marion is survived by her cherished husband of 64 years of marriage, Horst Bornkast, of Sarasota, Florida; her daughter, Beatrice Bornkast-Meier (John), of Suffolk, Virginia; and her Granddaughters, Anja V.B. Meier, and Linnea E.B. Meier.
Funeral service will be held on May 12, 2025, at 9:30 am, at the Sarasota National Cemetery, located at 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Florida 34241. A Celebration of Life memorial service for family and friends will be held afterwards, with the Chaplain Jarvis Hochstedler, at the Sunnyside Village Chapel, located at 5201 Bahia Vista Street, Sarasota, Florida 34232. A gathering for fellowship will follow at the Sunnyside Village Chart Room Terrace.
