

She grew up in Kentucky with five sisters. Marjorie attended Eastern Kentucky University where she and her husband, Darrel, met at Baptist Student Union. They married in 1953 in Lebanon, KY while he was serving in the army during the Korean War. They moved to Florida in August 1957 for Darrel’s teaching job at Sarasota High School. Marjorie was a loving wife and mother, a true Proverbs 31 woman, caring for and serving her family. She was also an amazing Bible student who loved teaching Sunday school and many Bible studies, and she faithfully served in her Southern Baptist church. Her faith in Jesus was foremost in her life, which was evident through her service and love for those around her. Marjorie also had a beautiful soprano voice, loved music, and enjoyed singing in the choir. Later in life, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were sang to as babies as she rocked them and prayed for them.
Darrel and Marjorie have three children: Sheila (Jim) Hall of Anna Maria, FL and Lowell, MI, Randy Wininger of Starke, FL, and Mellane (Mike) Crowe of Danville, KY. Marjorie was also the most wonderful Granna to 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She has two remaining sisters, Mabel Warren of Lebanon, KY and Margaret Hawks of Phoenix, AZ and many precious nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Darrel, her parents, and three of her sisters, Marie Burress and Mae Burdette of KY and Mayme Geiger of IN. She truly loved all of her family and wonderful friends. And, they were especially thankful for and loved their incredible Hillview Street neighbors.
Marjorie’s funeral will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL. Visitation will begin at 12:00 with the service at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, you are more than welcome to make donations to their favorite ministry, India National Inland Mission, PO Box 2603, Forest, VA 24551-6603.
