Martha Ellen Beachy

Martha Ellen (Yutzy) Beachy (88) of Sarasota, Florida peacefully passed away in her home on Monday, April 4, 2022. She was born October 5, 1933 in Plain City, Ohio to parents Vernon E. and Minerva Yutzy, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by brothers Lester Yutzy and Chester Yutzy as well as her sister, Leona (Yutzy) Hostetler.

Martha was married to and is survived by her husband of 66 years, Abe Beachy. She is also survived by her three children, Vernon Ray Beachy, Karen Beachy and Roger (Michelle) Beachy; step-grandchildren Deana Anderson, James Anderson, and Elise Anderson; and her brother, Dan Yutzy.

Martha had many jobs after the family moved to Sarasota in 1972 but she is remembered most for two of them. First, she and Abe cared for elderly people in their home. She had a remarkable gift caring for those in need and many lives were touched. Martha then became a Card Specialist at Walgreens where she managed the card aisle. She loved this job and ultimately worked for the company for 20+ years. She was still working part-time when COVID restrictions prevented her from doing so. Several weeks before she passed away she was asked how she was doing and she responded with “I’m ready to go to work!”

Martha was a member of Sarasota Community Church and served for many years on the Visitation Committee. She was also someone who spent lots of time on the phone checking in on friends and acquaintances.

A visitation for Martha will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sarasota Community Church, 4041 Bahia Vista Church, Sarasota, FL 34232. A visitation will occur Friday, April 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 4041 Bahia Vista St, Sarasota, FL 34232. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 4041 Bahia Vista St, Sarasota, FL 34232. A graveside service will occur Friday, April 8, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232.
