
Dearest wife of Simon Bernstein; preceded in death by husband Julian Hytken. Loving and proud mother of Betsy(Paul), Alice, Paul (Susan), Judy (Steve),Sara (Joe), and Risa (Stefano). Loving grandmother of Jesse, Taylor, Sarah (Raymond), Casey, Max, Hillary, Rachel, Alex, David, Ann Marie, Aimee, Michael and Megan and great-grandmother to Leah, Chloe, Kai, Katherine, Avery, Sophie, Ella, Gabriel and Julia Joyce. Further survived by loving brothers Bob (Karen), Bill (Nicole) and sister-in-law Anna Rose. Special aunt to Josh, Ben, Tracy, Leah, Gillian, Julia, Peggy and Harriet.
Mary Ann was born in Milwaukee, WI where she lived and raised her family. Her greatest joys were Hike, Simon, family and friends.
Mary Ann was a founding member of Congregation Sinai in Milwaukee, member of Congregation Sinai Sisterhood and Temple Beth Israel in Sarasota. She was active in the Milwaukee community and a participant in the Jewish Family Service Volunteer Program with the elderly.
In Sarasota Mary Ann served on the residents advisory council at the Sarasota Bay Club. Mary Ann loved beauty, not only appreciating it in the art created by others but creating it, herself, in her colorful art-fabric collages. She loved music and the theater. She felt that she was blessed with equally wonderful first and second marriages.
The family extends special thanks to caregiver Robbin and masseuse/friend Yvette for their friendship and support.
Funeral services were conducted in Milwaukee. There will be a memorial service at The Sarasota Bay Club on Thursday, June 7, at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Mary Ann requested donations to All Faiths Food Bank in Sarasota Florida.
