

Michael’s family is saddened by his passing away on November 17, 2025, after a long illness.
Michael, a resident of Sarasota Florida and St. Louis Missouri, was the grandson of his maternal grandparents Harriette and Milton Solomon, and paternal grandparents Joseph Spielman and Hermine Hasenfratz. He is survived by his mother, Rhoda Solomon Marcus, his stepfather Dr. Charles Sparks, Michael’s loving children, son David Spielman, daughter Sarah Spielman, and former wife Laurie Spielman Oswald. His father, Jon Spielman predeceased him.
He is also survived by his brother, Andrew Spielman, his children Nora, Corey, Julia and Alana Spielman, his sister-in-law Emi Deguchi Spielman, and her children Jack and Graycen Malinzak, his sister Molly Marcus Chernin, his brother-in-law Scott Chernin and their children Miles and Malia
Other survivors include his aunts Terri Schirmer, Jan Rosow and Fran Spielman, his uncle’s George Tavarides, Norman Rosow and Ralph Spielman, his cousins Eric and Daniel Rosow and Jesse Spielman. He also leaves his friend of 38 years, Alex Funkhouser,
He is survived as well by his beloved service dog, Louis.
Michael received his bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, his Juris Doctor and MBA degrees from Case Western University and his Master of Law and Letters from New York University.
His career as an International Tax Lawyer for prominent global law and accounting firms saw him travel all over the world for his clients, who valued his skills and knowledge in the field.
He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Temple Beth Sholom Cemetery, 801 Circus Blvd, Sarasota, FL 34232.
